I started of with my Best Hair Products for 2011. Now it's time for my top picks for skincare as tried on my delicate flower skin.
If you read my blog at all you probably knew I would start with a Dermalogica product. Special Cleansing Gel $33.00 USD by Dermalogica at Ulta
This soap-free gel with a botanical blend of Quillaja Saponaria and calming Lavender foams away impurities without disturbing the skin's natural moisture balance. This is great for all skin types but if you have never had a Dermalogica Face Mapping done I highly recommend it.
I know, it's playing favourites to have two Dermalogica products listed but their Daily Microfoliant $61.39$49.11 by Dermalogica at drugstore.com is the bomb as it will keep your skin bright, clear and smooth. Exfoliatiing benefits your skin as you then get the full potential of your other creams and potions with none of those dead skin cells or pollutants blocking the way to fab skin! [You stay looking younger then] Recommended for all skin conditions This unique rice-based powder formula activates upon contact with water, releasing Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes that micro-exfoliate dead cells.

Sampar Eye Rule is a fine line / puffiness eye cream miracle. WOW! How's that for billing! This is a definite personal use. I saw results within a week of using it. Now, I'm not sure if it's available in the US but I got mine in Singapore from the PR company and the link attached here goes to the Paris site. I'm confident that you will want to track this down for yourself. Husbands will love it too!
Rosewater Facial Freshener-Toner $16.00 USD at Kiehl's
A gentle soothing freshener formulated with Rose Extract to be used after cleansing or any time as a mild astringent and facial stimulant for normal to oily skin types. TIP: Pour some into a purse size spray bottle to help calm and refresh your skin throughout the day and bonus, it won't disturb your makeup.
A little goes a very long way! This is great for dry skin or dry climates. My skin LOVES this cream when I am in Canada but in Singapore [where I live] my skin finds it a bit heavy and I'll get the odd blemish if I use it here too frequently. SK-II 'Skin Signature' Melting Rich Cream $250.00 USD by SK-II at Nordstrom
Hard to believe that something so inexpensive can do so much! Bio-Oil Bio Oil Specialist Skin Care $11.99 USD by Bio-Oil at Ulta
Diminish the look of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone using Bio-Oil Specialist Skincare for Scars, Stretch Marks, Uneven Skin Tone, Aging Skin, Dehydrated Skin. Skincare product infuses skin with rich moisturizers to hydrate and nourish. Bio-Oil Specialist Skincare for Scars, Stretch Marks, Uneven Skin Tone, Aging Skin, Dehydrated Skin can also be used as an after-sun treatment and bath oil. Formulated with PureCellin oil to make product easy for skin to absorb.
Yup. But also be aware that there is mineral oil in this which I asked the question 'isn't mineral oil supposed to be a no-no?'
Answer: "Bio-Oil does contain mineral oil(paraffinum liquidum), which acts as a stabilizer for the active ingredients Vitamin A, E, Calendula, Rosemary, Lavender and Chamomile Oils. Mineral Oil is still the base that is used for baby oils all over the world, and so far, the safety track record for baby oil has been impeccable. Unfortunately, petroleum-based products have received rather bad press over recent years, but at present, there are no known tests from certified scientific proof and testing that are able to prove that using mineral oil increases the chance of cancer with those types of applications." Well there ya go. An articulate answer.
I use this on my face. I'm a bit of a beauty dork. I try something new for a few days, then each day after for about a week I analyze my skin staring at myself in the mirror. *le sigh* it's my J.O.B. Any-who... it made my list! Great for cuticles too!

iS Clinical Powder Sunscreen I love this product. You can powder throughout the day which takes out any shine AND adds protection! Generally I am not a powder fan - this is an exception to my rule. Just one negative: iS Clinical - I don't like the bristles on this brush. Not comfy. You could consider softer bristles. I shake the powder onto one of my other brushes to apply.

Chanel Hydramax Lip Care is the perfect texture for lips - not too runny like that Kiehl's one everyone seems to love but me. I want something that hydrates lips and acts as a great base for lipstick without causing the colour to bleed off - if you desire the same, look no further!
Pre-prom, night of boredom, sleepover, whatever - endless reasons to use Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips, $10.29 USD at drugstore.com. They totally clean up blackheads, not much else to add on that topic.
No, there are no real snake products in here. Rodial Skincare Glamoxy Snake Serum $144.00 USD by Rodial at Beauty.com I've been smoothing this on my marionette lines [those pesky lines at the side of your mouth] and a line that was forming on my forehead... it's magic cuz these are fading a little. Truth. Not lying to you. More on Glamoxy here.
In the age of chemical peels and cosmetic surgery, Rodial has captured nature's power by creating a range of super-effective skincare. Rodial products deliver targeted treatments to specific skin concerns from wrinkles and age spots to cellulite and stretch marks. In all Rodial products, Pomegranate Ellagic Tannin, with its natural anti-aging, firming and collagen-boosting properties, is combined with breakthrough natural ingredients clinically tested to show results. nature - science - skincare.

MyFaceWorks face mask sheets are amazing. You can buy many geared to your needs. To hydrate, detox, anti-aging...Just place the mask on freshly washed skin et voila, a lovely facial done at home. I do miss those peel off masks from the 80s, there's something therapeutic and fascinating about those but then again, they would fail to fully come off and if you were going out you would look like you had a skin disease . There are many mask sheets to choose from so check them out.
One to watch for:

The Body Shop is launching a pre-serum called Drops Of Youth, out the first week of January. Made with plant stem-cell technology this is a definitely must add-on to any skincare regimen. I have been using it for almost two weeks now and I'm amazed at the results. Positioned as a pre-serum so if you use a serum this will enhance the benefits of your skincare.
Next up: Best Makeup Products for 2011. Stay tuned!
PS: Regime Vs Regimen
I follow many beauty editors who have gone to school with various English and journalism degrees. One Twitter rant/convo caught my eye last year on the topic of the ill-positioned and over-used regime in beauty related stories. [BTW many beauty companies use the term in their ads and press kits]
To sum it up:
Regime = a government, especially an authoritarian one: ideological opponents of the regime
Regimen = a prescribed course of medical treatment, diet, or exercise for the promotion or restoration of health
BUT - it seems that depending on which dictionary you look at the rules bend here and there. So although traditionally the above is the proper use, over time the walls of the regime have come down and both seem to be interchangeable.
What say you? Favourite skincare not listed? Do share. I am happy to have comments you can link them too as long as you aren't selling car insurance, I'm not fussy with people linking on my blog.
Or a thought perhaps on the English language?? I'm a hair & makeup artist with spell-check so not offended at all with grammar tips and all that jazz.

Thanks for adding that in!

I'm surprised Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm didn't make the list.
