Roughly a year ago photographer Scott Woodward, asked me if I wanted to shoot an interesting series with some amazing costumes created by a brilliant costume designer, Chris Chiu (with Ian Hinden)

'Orphan' is a web drama that tells the story of Jason Diego. When his father dies and leaves him a mysterious document which promises to change the world, he must travel deep into Brazil, where he discovers the unclaimed orphan "nation" of Gaikoku. I told Ian that I wanted to blog his project and asked him for a bio:

Ian Hinden was born in his first room in his first house in Las Vegas.The doctor, a family friend, was drunk during Ian's delivery, and he later said it was a good thing that Ian was such an easy birth. Ian's father strongly considered leaving Ian "off the grid", with no official name or social security number, but Ian's mother convinced his father that it would make things too difficult for the child, and so Ian Hinden was officially born soon after his birth. He developed a love for writing while in school, the margins of his school work always filled with notes for his story ideas. He didn't like fumbling with a locker, and so he slumped through the schoolyard with all his papers and notes from the year on him at all times. He dropped out of college one class short of an English literature degree to go to Macau to be a gondolier. While there, he ran a viral internet campaign to advertise his friend's band. It was suggested to him that he shouldtell his stories for his own projects, and so Orphan was born. He left the role of the costumed mascot Shrek to build Orphan Studios and the Garb Age.

This was one of my favourite characters. The model playing 'Nurse Coli' was Izabella Bano. She reminded me of Helena Bonham Carter and how she becomes her characters. Watch for the various character snippets in the behind the scenes video.
