I LOVE eyewear. Maybe an easy understatement. I don't know how it happened but I own about 10+ pair of various designer sunglasses and optical frames - MARC by Marc Jacobs, Pucci, Gucci, DorDor, Dior, Versace... oh GAWD listing them drives that LOVE point over the edge - so does the fact that I am resisting Lasik for two reasons: 1) I work with my eyes (and hands) so I am afraid. 2) I love optical frames even though 9/10 I will wear my contacts I do like my eye glasses at times - and I will not be one of those who wear empty frames just to wear glasses... People: please stop - at least have lenses in them that aren't prescription but - empty frames?? REALLY? Empty frames are acceptable only if you are between the ages of 12 and 16 finding your footing in style.
Safilo invited me to their latest preview where I got to try on and covet many frames. I am eyeing some Jimmy Choo sunglasses from this season but here are some of my other faves I saw that day:
Women's sunglasses

Alexander McQueen (mod. AMQ 4211/S) Metal studs have also been used to embellish the oversize square acetate sunglasses which are offered in mauve, Havana transparent green and black.

BOSS Black collection (mod. BOSS 0487/S) A blend of inspirations and materials were skillfully matched for these women’s butterfly-shaped sunglasses, featuring an interplay between metal and acetate, for a seductive, charming allure. The rose gold metal temples, the nose bridge joining the lenses, as well as the studs on the front at the sides of the lenses, create elegant color contrasts with shades of coral, blue, chocolate, black and havana.

BOSS Orange Eyewear (mod. BO 0097/S) - Fashion style: These new women’s oversize sunglasses, catch the eye with an appealing interplay of multi-layer acetate colors framing the lenses. Warm nuances highlight their glam personality: burgundy/orange, brown/blue, black/white, brown/mud and purple/gray

Gucci (mod. GG3584/S) - Large, square-shaped sunglasses feature the anchor chain inspired by the House’s iconic detail. Small metal rings on the forked temples illuminate the frames.

MAX&Co. Up-to-date bon ton allure (mod. 170/S) – These acetate sunglasses feature a refined ribbon-like shape. Their seductive silhouette gives a contemporary twist to these sunglasses’ bon-ton attitude. They feature square profiles and rounded edges, as well as a metal detail joining the front and temples. A sophisticated matte, satin effect for the colour palette featuring tones of purple, green, cherry, orange and pink, accompanied by classic shades of black, crystal, brown. [Totes adorbs]

Max Mara (mod. MM JOAN I) - fashion inspirations and an oversized silhouette for these square-shaped sunglasses and optical frames adorned with Carré-cut Swarovski crystals framing the front. The array of colours includes elegant tones of pearled gold, Havana, deep red and black for the sunglasses.

Marc Jacobs (mod. MJ 430/S) A vintage allure: the acetate sunglasses and optical frames appealing shapes--cat-eye or round--are captivatingly bold. Their 60s style is highlighted by strong, contrasting profiles and distinctive details, such as the small pins and logo on the temples. The color palette perfectly suits these models’ glamorous style, featuring tones of green/crystal, purple/crystal, black/gray, black/Havana and Havana/honey.

CARRERA (mod. CARRERA 59) - A dynamic personality and an active spirit - These steel/metal sunglasses have an ultra-lightweight, contemporary feel and a refined sporty personality. Optical frames

Bottega Veneta (mod. B.V. 223) – A delicate intrecciato pattern and a timeless square shape characterize these chic women’s acetate optical frames. Tommy Hilfiger (TH 1166) - Color Blocking Attitude – Vibrant color blocking lends a lively touch to this women’s oval-shaped acetate optical frame: black/beige/brick red, Havana/blue/cyclamen, blue/cream/purple, red/Havana/blue, and transparent gray/brown/Havana. The iconic Tommy Hilfiger enameled flag detail is visible on the temples.
Men's sunglasses

DIOR HOMME BLACKTIE 152S - acetate sunglasses / high square shape. double bridge covered in leather on the front. new version of the iconic "DIOR HOMME" metal cut on the temples, created in leather for a luxury and sophisticated version. "cd" logo engraved on the temples. colours: shiny black frame, black leather, grey lenses ; dark havana front, black leather, polarized brown lenses; khaki front, khaki leather, brown lenses and dark blue front, black leather and polarized grey lenses.

The Gucci Eyeweb collection (mod. GG1029/S) presents its new injection-moulded bio-based sunglasses - made from a natural material derived from ricinus, the castor-oil plant. The double bridge with a rubber covered metal bar gives a new allure to this eyewear. The web stripe motif and monogram on the temples add a distinctive touch to this model.
