I love Paris in the springtime! Not that I have experienced any other time...My sister arrived Monday morning and although a rainy day we decided to tackle Paris on foot. Our hotel, Jules is in such a perfect location, everything is practically walk-able, but you certainly need to have high grades in geography and map reading. Us cocky sisters thought we had lunch in Montmartre... It wasn't until later that we realized we weren't quite there.

We ate at Folie's Cafe, a spread of French onion soup (which apparently the French deny is their creation), pâté, fromage... A feast fit for two ladies gallivanting about Paris.
It was pouring rain and my lovely yellow corduroy shoes I got from Pedro in Singapore had turned my feet yellow. I discovered my jaundiced feet while trying on shoes in the 2 Arr (Montmartre! We eventually made it there). A little embarrassing but not the first time I fell victim to fashion... And of course I bought shoes. (pics on my FB if you care to see since blogging from my iPad won't allow me to add my photos)
My French is coming back to me in surprising bursts of bilingualism. Steps away from the shoe store I found a hair supply store and given the lack of fabulous blonde colours in Singapore (I do ridiculously gorgeous blonde highlights. *toot toot* goes my own horn) I managed to stock up on some of the colours that Singapore doesn't carry which will make my clients very happy AND got a 50% discount after explaining in French to the guy that je suis une coiffure et maquieusse. (I can speak it just maybe not spell it)

My sister doing her thang at the Louvre.
New shoes and hair supplies in hand we set off for the Louvre. We walked. Bear in mind that at this point, we had ventured from our hotel in the 9th and still have not taken a taxi or the metro.

I had spent time on my hair and makeup in the morning prior to venturing out which proved to be a waste of time.

The wind and rain managed to get me as well as inverted my umbrella on one of the bridges behind the Lourve. (sorry Hotel Jules, one of your brollies became a Parisian casualty.)
Dinner ended up being nibblies at friends' who happen to be staying around the corner from our hotel.
Since the fashion world is small and Paris is a major fashion destination, my friends Furqan (fashion stylist extraordinaire) and Brendan Zhang (photographer extraordinaire) are here shooting. Well, on my vacation I joined them in a shoot for Elle (Singapore). How can I resist shooting with my boys? ;) It's a beautiful shoot coming out fast in the July issue so check back for that! But what a great way to see Paris as we we were shooting at the Eiffel Tower, Pont Alexandre III bridge and the Place de la Concorde. (yes, I dragged my sister to my 7 am call time)
After the shoot I had a meeting that I was late for so tried to track down some wifi in and around Hermes. Failed attempt at free wifi within the luxury boutiques, quelle surprise.
Racing back to the hotel I was able to meet up with a member of Vulture magazine in my lobby bar. Oui, j'ai deux verre de champangne. I have actually been craving champagne daily in Paris. Thank god I don't live here. Alcohol makes me chatty which completely sober i am not exactly quiet... Let this be an apology to all who has had the pleasure of listening to my ramblings sober or not.

The evening ended with a concert at Espace B where Royal Wood and Sarah Slean performed. They were beyond amazing. And with Espace B being such an intimate venue I was surprised at the amazing sound. (ps hair & makeup on Sarah's photo by me)

*Check back for my Elle spread which will drop in a couple of weeks.
