Acknowledge that she shops by buying her a wallet

I need a new wallet and this is the one I've been eyeballing. Hint to the HB. The snake embossed leather is a great texture but living in the tropics this may have me screaming every time I open my bag actually believing that a python slivered in so possibly deterring my desire to dig it out... anything to convince the HB that I need a Kate Spade wallet... Kate Spade New York Lacey Snake Embossed Leather Zip-Around Wallet  $228.00 USD at Saks Fifth Avenue I love the zip-around closure since I tend to jam everything in. It has an inside zip pocket with two compartments, twelve credit card slots and two bill compartments. Perfecto.

PREVIEW! My faves from the latest 2012-13 designer eyewear

By Andrea Claire · November 10, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

I LOVE eyewear. Maybe an easy understatement. I don't know how it happened but I own about 10+ pair of various designer sunglasses and optical frames - MARC by Marc Jacobs, Pucci, Gucci, DorDor, Dior, Versace... oh GAWD listing them drives that LOVE point over the edge - so does the fact that I am resisting Lasik for two reasons: 1) I work with my eyes (and hands) so I am afraid. 2) I love optical frames even though 9/10 I will wear my contacts I do like my eye glasses at times - and I will not be one of those who wear empty frames just to wear glasses... People: please stop - at least have lenses in them that aren't prescription but - empty frames?? REALLY? Empty frames are acceptable only if you are between the ages of 12 and 16 finding your footing in style.

Safilo invited me to their latest preview where I got to try on and covet many frames. I am eyeing some Jimmy Choo sunglasses from this season but here are some of my other faves I saw that day:

Women's sunglasses

Alexander McQueen (mod. AMQ 4211/S) Metal studs have also been used to embellish the oversize square acetate sunglasses which are offered in mauve, Havana transparent green and black.

BOSS Black collection (mod. BOSS 0487/S) A blend of inspirations and materials were skillfully matched for these women’s butterfly-shaped sunglasses, featuring an interplay between metal and acetate, for a seductive, charming allure. The rose gold metal temples, the nose bridge joining the lenses, as well as the studs on the front at the sides of the lenses, create elegant color contrasts with shades of coral, blue, chocolate, black and havana.

BOSS Orange Eyewear (mod. BO 0097/S) - Fashion style: These new women’s oversize sunglasses, catch the eye with an appealing interplay of multi-layer acetate colors framing the lenses. Warm nuances highlight their glam personality: burgundy/orange, brown/blue, black/white, brown/mud and purple/gray

Gucci (mod. GG3584/S) - Large, square-shaped sunglasses feature the anchor chain inspired by the House’s iconic detail. Small metal rings on the forked temples illuminate the frames.

Jimmy Choo (JULIET) – Elegant square shaped metallic sunglasses and optical frames, feature metal and leather detailing on the temples reflecting the signature design of the Justine bag. [It's safe to say I have a lovefest going on for Jimmy Choo's collection - previous post]

MAX&Co. Up-to-date bon ton allure (mod. 170/S) – These acetate sunglasses feature a refined ribbon-like shape. Their seductive silhouette gives a contemporary twist to these sunglasses’ bon-ton attitude. They feature square profiles and rounded edges, as well as a metal detail joining the front and temples. A sophisticated matte, satin effect for the colour palette featuring tones of purple, green, cherry, orange and pink, accompanied by classic shades of black, crystal, brown. [Totes adorbs]

Max Mara (mod. MM JOAN I) - fashion inspirations and an oversized silhouette for these square-shaped sunglasses and optical frames adorned with Carré-cut Swarovski crystals framing the front. The array of colours includes elegant tones of pearled gold, Havana, deep red and black for the sunglasses.

Marc Jacobs (mod. MJ 430/S) A vintage allure: the acetate sunglasses and optical frames appealing shapes--cat-eye or round--are captivatingly bold. Their 60s style is highlighted by strong, contrasting profiles and distinctive details, such as the small pins and logo on the temples. The color palette perfectly suits these models’ glamorous style, featuring tones of green/crystal, purple/crystal, black/gray, black/Havana and Havana/honey.

(mod. CARRERA 59) - A dynamic personality and an active spirit - These steel/metal sunglasses have an ultra-lightweight, contemporary feel and a refined sporty personality. The temples’ style, reminiscent of original 80s models yet revisited with a modern flair with trendsetting rubber details, denotes this model’s vintage inspiration. The flex hinge on the temples ensures maximum comfort and a perfect fit, while glare-free polarized lenses ensure clear, perfect vision. [unisex frame]

Optical frames

Bottega Veneta (mod. B.V. 223) – A delicate intrecciato pattern and a timeless square shape characterize these chic women’s acetate optical frames. The details are signature Bottega Veneta: a closing-block hinge inspired by the hardware on the brand’s handcrafted travel trunks, and sleek rivets on the temple tips. The color palette includes rich, transparent brown and gray, as well as models in brown/champagne and burgundy/light green models that feature a shaded intrecciato pattern.

Dior (CD3249)
- Optical version of Dior Taffetas. The new Dior sunglasses for 2012-2013 winter reflect the soft modernity and refined elegance that draws inspiration from the sophisticated stylistic codes of the maison’s couture creations. Pure and elegant shapes play with texture and tones to create contemporary and luxurious silhouettes. Refined Dior ¨plissé¨ textures and unique leather details convey dior’s new stylistic statement: an iconic and sophisticated feel.

MAX&Co. (Geometric bow mod. 177) – A ribbon-like shape reinterpreted with strong, geometric profiles defines this injection-moulded optical frame’s personality. Metal details framing the rectangular front run along the temples. This model’s matte finish lends a soft, velvet feel to the colour palette – black, purple, turquoise, pink, beige. [double heart!]

Tommy Hilfiger (TH 1166) - Color Blocking Attitude – Vibrant color blocking lends a lively touch to this women’s oval-shaped acetate optical frame: black/beige/brick red, Havana/blue/cyclamen, blue/cream/purple, red/Havana/blue, and transparent gray/brown/Havana. The iconic Tommy Hilfiger enameled flag detail is visible on the temples.

Men's sunglasses

- acetate sunglasses / high square shape. double bridge covered in leather on the front. new version of the iconic "DIOR HOMME" metal cut on the temples, created in leather for a luxury and sophisticated version. "cd" logo engraved on the temples. colours: shiny black frame, black leather, grey lenses ; dark havana front, black leather, polarized brown lenses; khaki front, khaki leather, brown lenses and dark blue front, black leather and polarized grey lenses.

The Gucci Eyeweb
collection (mod. GG1029/S) presents its new injection-moulded bio-based sunglasses - made from a natural material derived from ricinus, the castor-oil plant. The double bridge with a rubber covered metal bar gives a new allure to this eyewear. The web stripe motif and monogram on the temples add a distinctive touch to this model. [Hipster Pornstar - great for Movember!]

*Sorry - I have no prices*

Poll-eese! Which Jimmy Choo sunnies do you love the bestest?

By Andrea Claire · November 9, 2012 · 0 Comments ·

So - my HB is not on Facebook. True. My father-in-law wouldn't rat me out. True. But it's all in fun - the comments friends have left are pretty funny. They all say the leopard print with the odd vote for the Beatrix frames and the odd BOTH! I showed my HB. He replied with nervous laughter as I am sure he is wondering if I am going to spend more money... Probably.

BEATRIX [I am wearing on my left] – Injection-moulded/metal sunglasses with a softly rounded oversize shape. The temples are embellished with leather details and the frame features elegant hues of dark grey, brown, pink, beige, gloss black and Havana, offered with either shaded or mirrored lenses.

I don't have a product image of the other one's I am wearing but these are nice too: ZETA – Large, square-shaped acetate frames feature stars, studs and Swarovski crystals on the temples and arms presented in burgundy, beige, brown and gloss black, all with shaded lenses.

I'll just buy all of them and then assume this postion. ;)

DorDor Eyewear, Hong Kong

By Andrea Claire · November 12, 2011 · 0 Comments ·

I'm in Hong Kong for the weekend staying in Causeway Bay, literally a 10 minute walk to Times Square which means in the heart of the the shopping.

Jia, a Philippe Starck-designed boutique hotel is where I am calling home these few days. Check back as I will be reviewing the hotel next week in the meantime, a little shopping has led me to a local eyewear company - DorDor Eyewear.

Had to have, right? These were $650 HKD which, if my travel math is correct is about $100 USD! Why stop at one pair, right? I got these too.

They also have an exclusive bamboo collection.

Cool fact: You can order from overseas or if you are travelling to Hong Kong, I came across their shop in Laforet.

I am here for two more days so if you have any must-see suggestions... or must-buy ;) please leave me a comment or DM me if you are shy.
